Leigh Burnett, Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA

Leigh Burnett received her Master of Communication Disorders degree and her Bachelors degree from Auburn University. Leigh completed her externship under the direction of Dr. James Jerger, one of the pioneers of modern Audiology, at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Leigh received her Doctor of Audiology degree in 2007 from Central Michigan University.

Leigh has a wide range of experience in the field of audiology including, but not limited to pediatric, adult and geriatric assessment. Her special interests include neuroaudiology, hearing aids, aural rehabilitation and early identification of hearing loss. She has been employed in the ENT physician practice setting since 1988 and has been working for the same physicians since 1990. Leigh is certified by the American Speech-Language- Hearing Association and is licensed to practice audiology in the State of Alabama. Leigh is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.

Leigh has been hearing impaired since birth and wears hearing aids in both ears.

 

Sabrina F. Lawley, Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA

Sabrina Lawley received her Doctor of Audiology degree in 2013 from University of South Alabama and both her Bachelors of Science in Communication Disorders as well as Bachelors of Arts in Psychology in 2009 from Auburn University. Sabrina completed her externship at UAB Civitan-Sparks Clinics in Birmingham, Alabama with a focus in pediatrics.

Sabrina has a wide range of experience in the field of audiology including, but not limited to audiological evaluations of all ages, balance evaluations, hearing aids, aural rehabilitation, neuroaudiology, and early identification of hearing loss. Her special interests include pediatric audiological evaluation, hearing aids, and aural rehabilitation. She has been employed in an ENT physician practice setting since 2014 and at Hoover ENT Associates since August 2015. Sabrina is certified by the American Speech-Language- Hearing Associate and is licensed to practice audiology in the State of Alabama. Sabrina is also a Fellow the American Academy of Audiology.

 

John Wright M.S.

John Wright obtained his master’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of South Alabama in 1988. He pursued an internship at the UAB Sparks Clinic in 1988-1989, focusing on the care and management of special needs children. He joined the staff of Riverchase ENT in 1990, before moving with Dr. Boyd and Dr. Wittich, as well as Leigh Burnett, to Hoover ENT.

John returned to the Sparks Clinic in 1993 as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Communication Disorders. During his tenure at Sparks he supervised and trained a regular rotation of audiology graduates, while pursuing his passion for the intervention of special needs children, with an emphasis on the hearing impaired.

In 2000, John moved to Children’s Hospital of Alabama in the Hearing and Speech Clinic, where he initially served as the Audiology Coordinator for the hospital. In 2002 he helped establish and supervise Children’s HEAR Center, a clinic at Children’s Hospital specializing in the management of hearing impaired children, offering services from amplification to cochlear implants, and auditory-verbal therapy. In 2007 John moved into the private sector.

John returned to Hoover ENT in 2014 on a part-time basis, where he utilizes his experience in management to serve as administrator for the Hoover Hearing Clinic.

 

Allyson “Ally” Remmetter

Ally Remmetter has recently returned to Hoover Hearing Clinic after being in Germany for the last 2 years. She is ecstatic to be back and has missed assisting the patients. She has over 20 years experience in the medical field and has worked in outpatient surgery, ENT, and audiology. Ally has a great demeanor and enjoys working with people. If you have any questions or concerns, Ally would love to help you.

Allyson was born and raised in Ohio, but adores her new home in Alabama! She is married, has 4 wonderful children and a new grandson. Her 3 older children (and grandson) still reside in Ohio, but Ally’s youngest daughter lives here with Ally and her husband in Hoover. In her spare time, Ally loves boating, fishing and traveling to Ohio see her family.

 

Graduate Student

Hoover Hearing Clinic is proud to work in conjunction with several university programs to provide training opportunities for third and fourth year audiology doctoral interns. We have a regular rotation of third year externs and fourth year interns completing their practicum requirements for graduation. As a patient in our clinic, you may be seen by one of our graduate students while under the supervision of our licensed audiologists.
